KUALA LUMPUR: An elderly Chinese national who went missing while travelling in Malaysia with his family was found yesterday at the side of a highway.
Xu Baolin is suspected to have suffered rib fractures and internal bleeding from a fall.
He has since been hospitalised for treatment.
Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulizme Affendy Sulaiman said Xu was found along the MRR2 (Middle Ring Road 2) and is receiving treatment in the hospital.
His statement regarding his disappearance will be recorded once his condition stabilises.
According to a report from China Press, Xu's son confirmed that his father was found around 4pm yesterday (Dec 11), with the help of a kind-hearted woman.
"A woman, who likely saw our missing person notice on social media, recognised my father and immediately contacted me.
"We believe he slipped and fell due to the recent rainy weather, which caused his ribs to fracture, and this led to internal bleeding.
"Surgery is planned soon and we'll decide on the next steps once he recovers."
Xu's son expressed heartfelt gratitude to all Malaysians for their assistance, adding that he was deeply moved by their kindness and generosity, especially the woman who helped his father.
"I'm incredibly thankful to this kind lady. Not only did she recognise my father, but she also stayed with him and waited for me to arrive. I cannot thank her enough!"
Xu was last seen at Level 2 of the Suria KLCC food court on Dec 8 and the police received a report about his disappearance at 11.42am on the next day.
