First Malaysian tested positive for Covid-19 recovers and discharged

KUALA LUMPUR: A 41-year-old man, who was the first Malaysian tested positive for Covid-19, has been cured from the deadly infection.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the patient, who is the ninth coronavirus cases in Malaysia, had fully recovered and discharged from the Sungai Buloh Hopital near here today.

This brings the total number of cases discharged after having undergone Covid-19 detection tests to nine.

On a related development, Dr Dzulkefly said there is no new Covid-19 case reported to the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) as of today.

“The total cumulative confirmed Covid-19 cases in Malaysia still stand at 22 cases with 13 patients still receiving treatments at the hospital,” he said, adding that the nine patients discharged underwent repeated Covid-19 tests with result from two consecutive tests showed that they are negative of the infection before they were issued a clean bill of health.

As of today, the total number Patient-Under-Investigation (PUI) is 557 cases in which 316 cases identified as close contacts.
