KUALA LUMPUR: A Sarawak hawker has struck it big when he won the RM26.4 million Toto 4D Jackpot 1 on Feb 26.
The 67-year old lucky punter said the huge win was his retirement gift.
The Sarawakian who came to collect his winnings at Sports Toto’s head office here, said the set of winning numbers – “9958 & 5198” were derived from a strange old dream that he had a few years ago.
“Although I can no longer recall the dream, I still buy the same set of numbers every time I bet.
“Working as a food hawker is a tough job and I had always wished to retire early since all my children are already working.
“It is indeed a great retirement gift for me to win the jackpot,” he said.
The winner broke the good news to his family immediately after checking the results on Wednesday night.
“We were very excited and decided to fly to Kuala Lumpur the next day after the draw so that we can collect the winnings as soon as possible,” he said.
The winner said he would normally spend RM10 to RM20 on each draw and that he would never forget to spend another RM2 on the Toto 4D Jackpot game which ultimately won him a whopping RM26,409,196.15.
He plans to share some of his new-found wealth with his children and save the rest for his retirement.
