KUALA LUMPUR: A plantation estate worker's patience in betting on family members' ages for years paid off on Aug 18 when he hit it big and became an instant multimillionaire.
The 61-year-old from Perak hit the Power Toto 6/55 Jackpot with the combination of 6, 13, 16, 18, 20 & 36, raking in RM17.03 million.
He told STM Lottery Sdn Bhd he had been betting on the same combination of numbers for many years without fail.
"These numbers were actually the age of my family members. Some meaningful event had taken place during that time, and I purposely selected their age at that time and started betting on these numbers.
"I would buy all Lotto games which are the Star Toto 6/50, Power Toto 6/55 and Supreme Toto 6/58 for just RM4 per draw and just wait for my turn to win," he said.
The winner said he was shocked to see the results in the newspaper on Monday and he immediately called his wife and children to share the news.
He said he has not planned on how to spend the winnings as he was still in disbelief that he is now a multimillionaire.
