KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry has managed to trace 8,786 participants of a recent tabligh gathering which saw the spike in Covid-19 cases in the country.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah shared on his Facebook account that the ministry has collected 3,439 samples as of noon on Monday.
A total of 125 new Covid-19 positive cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cases to 553 in Malaysia.
From the new cases, 95 were related to the tabligh gathering, bringing the total of tabligh cluster to 338 cases.
Under the tabligh cluster, Kuala Lumpur recorded highest number of cases at 70; followed by Sabah (57); Negri Sembilan (30); Kedah (26); Johor (22); Selangor (21); Pahang (19); Perak and Sarawak (18); Kelantan (16); Penang and Melaka (13); Perlis (7); Terengganu and Labuan (4).
An estimated 15,000 participants were part of the tabligh gathering held at the Seri Petaling mosque from Feb 27 to March 1.
