Agong calls on Malaysians to follow the two-week RMO

KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has called on Malaysians to adhere to the two-week restricted movement order that will come into force tomorrow.

Al-Sultan Abdullah made the call in a statement issued by the Comptroller of the Royal Household today.

“Seri Paduka Baginda expressed that the people need to face the situation with much composure and without panic to help the government and the authorities curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country,” said the comptroller Datuk Ahmad Fadli Shamsuddin.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong also urged Malaysians not to take the restriction lightly or for granted.

“The people are called to follow the guidelines and preventive measures that have been issued by the Health Ministry because it is our shared responsibility towards the safety and well-being of our families, society and the nation that we love.”

Ahmad Fadil said His Majesty was very concerned after 125 new cases were recorded yesterday, bringing Covid-19 positive cases to 553.

He said the monarch took the matter seriously but had faith in the government and the authorities in executing their duties to curb the spread of the virus.

“Seri Paduka Baginda realises that the people may feel this government complicates their daily affairs. But we have to be understanding and patient as the government cannot wait until the situation worsens to take drastic measures.”

“As the head of state, Seri Paduka Baginda also calls on Malaysians from all races and religions to unite and work together to assist the government in combating the curb of Covid-19 in the country.”

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong was also confident that with the resilience, attentiveness and cooperation from Malaysians the dreaded pandemic can be addressed quicker and with greater efficacy.

Ahmad Fadil also said that Malaysians were urged to call the Virtual Health Advisory or Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) through the Health Ministry’s website for enquiries.

The phone lines are also useful in clearing doubts as well as preventing the spread of fake news and information that can create panic and confusion among the people, he said.

“Seri Paduka Baginda also expressed his appreciation and thanks to the government under the leadership of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the government agencies as well as the unsung heroes especially health workers, civil servants and all those who sacrificed their time and are working hard on efforts and measures to ensure that preventive steps and necessary control is carried out effectively.

“The Yang di-Pertuan Agong also urged Malaysians to pray with him to seek God’s grace so that the efforts taken are blessed and the Covid-19 situation facing the country ends quickly.”
