Water supply in Klang area 64 per cent restored as of 1pm

KUALA LUMPUR: Water supply in the Klang area has been 64 per cent recovered as of 1pm today.

Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) corporate communications head Abdul Halem Mat Som said only eight areas were yet to be fully restored.

The areas, he said, were Meru, Bukit Kapar, Kapar, Sementa, Perepat, Jalan Kapar Bt 1-5, Kampung Teluk Gong and Pulau Ketam.

"These areas are at the end of the supply system as well as high areas and water supply is expected to be fully recovered by 6pm.

"Efforts to stabilise the water supply distribution system are being implemented to accelerate the recovery process.

"Air Selangor seeks the cooperation of its customers to use water wisely to ensure the recovery process progresses smoothly for affected areas," he said in a statement.

He also said while water supply was being restored, emergency relief via water tank trucks will be mobilised to the affected areas.

Water supply in Kuala Selangor was fully restored at 7am.

Water supply at seven areas in the Klang Valley was disrupted since yesterday due to an operation at the water treatment plants in Sungai Selangor Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 and Rantau Panjang, after pollution was detected at the raw water source in Sungai Selangor.
