KUALA LUMPUR: Supermax Corporation Berhad (Supermax) has committed to donate one million pieces of nitrile powder-free medical gloves.
They are to be distributed to Malaysian government hospitals, police stations and the healthcare industry’s first responders, to combat the Covid-19 outbreak in Malaysia.
Supermax is coordinating the logistics and distribution of the gloves with the National Disaster Management Agency of Malaysia (Nadma) to ensure that they reach first responders in the quickest possible time.
Supermax’s founder Datuk Seri Stanley Thai said the glove manufacturer would like to express its appreciation to all frontliners, particularly healthcare workers and the police, for their relentless efforts and diligence in containing the Covid-19 outbreak.
“We want to ensure each and every frontliner is protected, to effectively reduce the risk of being infected themselves and their family by the deadly virus.
“The medical gloves should be for single use only and not to be sanitised nor reused to prevent risk of infection,” he said in a statement.
Thai said Malaysia must not bow down to this unfortunate calamity.
“Supermax encourages others to donate. Let us stand united to give full support to our government's efforts in combating this global pandemic,” he said.
Supermax had previously donated three million gloves to Wuhan – the origin of the outbreak in China – and has helped other sponsors deliver 8.9 million gloves to China during the height of the outbreak there.
