No exceptions, mandatory quarantine for all Malaysians returning from abroad

KUALA LUMPUR: All Malaysians returning from abroad amid the Covid-19 pandemic are subjected to mandatory quarantine.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said no one will be exempted from the mandatory quarantine, regardless of how they travelled back here.

“Whether it is by air, land or sea, they must undergo the mandatory quarantine upon arrival. Up to yesterday, 163 quarantine centres are in operations where 12,359 individuals are being quarantined,” said Ismail Sabri today.

He added that yesterday, a total of 835 Malaysians arrived home and were quarantined.

The land and sea entry points include Padang Besar in Perlis and Bukit Kayu Hitam in Kedah, as well as ferry terminals in Stulang Laut in Johor and Sandakan in Sabah.

Ismail said there are also quarantine centres at KLIA and KLIA2, Kota Kinabalu International Airport and Kuching International Airport where all passengers, locals and foreigners, will be screened before going into mandatory quarantine.
