KOTA BARU: Some familiar comic book "superheroes" are providing delivery services for food items around the state capital during this Movement Control Order (MCO) period.
A group of workers from a food stall in Kampung Kota have been donning costumes resembling Spiderman, Black Panther, the Flash and Kamen Rider as they provide their cash on delivery (COD) services.
Warong Poksu Superhero owner Mohd Fakri Rabys said the idea came about as he was looking for alternative ways to earn income during the MCO period.
The 35-year-old, decked in a white and red Kamen Rider costume, said he wanted to bring some cheer and provide “entertainment” as they felt that many customers might be feeling stressed out right now.
"When ‘Warong Poksu Superhero’ was closed at the start of the MCO, I came up with an idea for COD services to supply rice, eggs, vegetables and other produce.
"I own about 25 superhero costumes. I’ve decided to use them to earn some income. I want to be different from other delivery services. Every day, I’d wear a different suit such as Spiderman, Batman, the Flash, Black Panther and Bumblebee from Transformers when making deliveries,” he said when met at his stall in Kampung Kota, here.
Mohd Fakri charged customers between RM3 to RM5 for his delivery services, depending on the distance.
He said gaining income was hard nowadays, but he was satisfied to be able to provide a service which puts smiles on people’s faces.
Mohd Fakri admitted being a hardcore superhero fan, and his food stall reflected his interest. His wife Munirah Mustafa, 32, was supportive of the idea.
The costumes were sourced from Thailand, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the United States and cost betwen RM300 and RM4,000.
Mohd Fakri said he upheld hygiene and social distancing practices during deliveries.
