4-day closure of Selayang market is for sanitisation works [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: The four-day closure of the Selayang wholesale market is to allow for sanitisation process to be carried out at the premises, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the market was not part of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) which involved only the residential areas in the vicinity.

“However, some of the affected residents work at the market. The closure of the market is only for four days until Thursday and not 14 days. This is to allow sanitisation process be carried out there,” he told a Press conference today.

It was reported that two areas, namely, Pusat Bandar Utara; and around Selayang Wholesale Market, involving eight parcels, were placed under EMCO starting yesterday until May 3.

Some traders have complained that they were caught off guard with the directive to cease operations as they were preparing to receive goods from suppliers and farmers yesterday.
