SELAYANG: All back lanes and short cuts in Selayang Baru have been sealed with barbed wire fences placed in strategic locations to strengthen the enforcement of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
A check by Berita Harian at the maze of alleyways and lanes in and around zone E involving Jalan 4, Jalan 6 and Jalan 8 found that each path had been barred with barbed wire fences to block any movement during the EMCO.
Attempts by commercial lorry owners to enter the EMCO area by going through alleys and short cuts into the Selayang wholesale market proved futile.
Regular patrol and monitoring by Police personnel, Armed Forces members and Rela members also prevented further movement in the area.
Police monitoring encampment at several alleyways also prevented further movement in the EMCO areas as well as nearby MCO areas.
Also present were personnel from special units as well as from the Selayang Municipal Council who sent food to affected residents comprised mostly of Rohingyas as well as Bangladesh and Pakistan nationals.
Last Saturday, the government imposed EMCO on six residential parcel units in Selayang Baru until May 3.
The six residential parcels include Zone A, namely Jalan Indah 3 and Jalan Indah 5A, Selayang Indah; Zone B (Jalan Indah 21,Lembah Indah, Selayang Baru); Zon C (Jalan Besar Selayang Baru, Jalan 1 and Jalan Indah 21); Zone D (Jalan 3, 5, 7 and 9); Zone E (Jalan 2, 4, 6 and 8) dan Zone F (Block A, B and C, Selayang Makmur).
