KUALA LUMPUR: The four-day Selangor River Treatment Plant (LRA) Phase 3 (LRA SSP3) upgrading works on July 14 will see water supply disruption for 420,000 user accounts.
It will involve in 290 areas across five regions - Petaling, Klang, Gombak, Kuala Langat and Kuala Lumpur.
Selangor Water Management Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) director and operations chief Ir Abas Abdullah said the LRA shutdown, which includes the replacement of several major pipelines, was to improve system and plant operation's efficiency.
He said the timing of the disruption and recovery of water supply would also vary by districts, geographical locations and altitude of the customer's premises.
Due to the LRA shutdown, the 290 areas will experience scheduled water supply disruptions starting July 14 from 9am until July 17 in the evening.
"Air Selangor also estimates that 48 per cent of all affected areas will get water supply before 9am on July 16 followed by 80 per cent of affected areas by at 9am on July 17.
"The complete restoration of water supply is expected on the same day at 5pm," he told a special media conference when announcing the shutdown at LSP SSP3 here today.
Air Selangor would mobilise 91 water tankers with priority on critical premises such as hospitals and dialysis centres.
He also said the public could use public water taps provided by Air Selangor, contact or visit one of the eight local service centres from July 16 to July 17.
Commercial users could buy water supply from two local water stations and payments can be made either at Air Selangor customer service counters or through online transactions.
"For more information on the SSP3's scheduled shutdown, users can refer to the Air Selangor website or through our smartphone apps.
"Air Selangor would recommend to customers to use the water wisely during this scheduled water supply disruption period."
