GOMBAK: A bank manager was left injured after a security guard accidentally fired off his pump gun at the bank in Jalan Bandar Baru Rawang this afternoon.
In the 1.20pm incident, the security guard had just exited the washroom when he accidentally dropped his weapon.
When he tried to pick it up, he inadvertently fired off a round.
The shot struck the manager, 57, in the right arm. The manager was immediately rushed to the Selayang Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
Confirming the incident, Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Arifai Tarawe said checks showed that the security guard has served with the bank since January last year.
The guard, 26, also has a carry and use licence for the firearm, said Arifai.
The guard has since been detained for further investigation under Section 37 of the Arms Act 1960.
