'Not SUKE site debris, could have been hook from a passing mobile crane'

KUALA LUMPUR: An incident near the Sungai Besi-Ulu Klang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) in Taman Len Seng, Cheras last night was believed to have been a hit and run involving a mobile crane and a Proton Persona.

At about 8.30pm last night, the Persona, driven by a 55-year-old e-hailing driver, was turning left into Jalan Len Seng when something struck the rear roof of his car.

Police said it was believed that it was the hook of a mobile crane which was travelling straight along Jalan Len Seng.

The incident resulted in the e-hailing driver being pinned inside his car and had to be extricated by firemen but sustained no injuries.

Police said they found no debris from what hit the Persona left behind and that the mobile crane driver did not stop following what happened and has not lodged a report.

Last night, Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya said they were yet to recover the object that damaged the car.

The incident went viral on social media, with many believing the Persona was hit by a fallen object from the SUKE construction site.

However Bernama reported that a Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) spokesperson said the construction at the site had been temporarily stopped after an incident of a falling concrete parapet slab the day before.

In that incident, the slab hit a passing car driven by a woman.

Bernama said according to the spokesperson, the initial report received by Prolintas showed that last night's incident involved two vehicles.
