BALING: Kampung Teluk Rambung in Tanjung Pari here was hit by another debris flood yesterday.
At least one house was badly damaged after it was hit by logs that were washed down by the strong current.
House owner Mohd Naim Asri Baharom,46, said the incident struck about 7.30pm.
"It started raining heavily about 6.30pm and about an hour later the debris floods hit my house," he told The New Straits Times when contacted.
Naim said the logs washed down by the strong current crushed the house, tearing half of the home inherited from his late parents.
It was reported that the village was hit by the first debris flood on Sept 30, forcing several families including Naim, to be evacuated to a nearby temporary flood relief centre.
Checks by the NST recently showed that there are at least 10 landslide locations have been identified on Bukit Lada Putih following the debris floods that devastated the village.
The villagers claimed that the hill was logged some 15 years ago.
It was also reported that the Kedah Forestry Department has brushed off claims that there is logging activity in Bukit Lata Putih as claimed on social media platforms recently.
Its director Muhamad Abdullah said the site is privately-owned and not part of the Ulu Muda Forest Reserves.
