KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah advises members of Parliament to fully support the 2021 Budget for the sake of harmony and the rakyat's livelihoods as well as for economic recovery, all of which have suffered due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement issued by Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, the King stressed that the budget due to be tabled in Parliament soon was important to the government and the authorities, particularly frontliners to continue implementing policies and carry out efforts to curb the pandemic.

Ahmad Fadil said Al-Sultan Abdullah also called upon all MPs to respect the decree issued asking for all forms of political dispute to cease, and to instead focus on the rakyat's welfare and the nation's harmony so the 2021 Budget can be passed without disruption.

The budget is set to be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat Nov 6.

"His Majesty also reminds MPs that political squabbling for personal interest would not benefit the country and the rakyat would become victims at a time the country is still battling threats brought on by Covid-19."

Ahmad Fadil said the King made this decree after an audience with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasson for the pre-Cabinet meeting at Istana Negara today.

The audience which lasted for more than an hour from 8am today saw Al-Sultan Abdullah being briefed on the 2021 Budget.

He said the King expressed hope that the budget would focus on economic recovery and for the good of the rakyat who were affected by the outbreak.

Al-Sultan Abdullah also expressed his confidence in Muhyiddin's leadership to helm the country's administration at this time of crisis.
