HULU LANGAT: More than 400 houses in 10 villages here were flooded following heavy downpour that started since early this morning.
Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Fire and Rescue Department station chief Zafruddin Mohd Nasir said the department received a distress call at 4.25am.
"Nine firemen as well as three fire and rescue tenders were deployed to the location near Kampung Dusun Tua.
"The main road was under water and we resorted to rescuing 12 families from two houses by boat," he said when contacted, here, today.
He said the incident also had affected more than 400 houses near the location.
He said among the areas affected were Kampung Batu 16, Kampung Sungai Serai, Kampung Kuala Perdik, Kampung Batu 14, Kampung Batu 18, Kampung Batu 20 Sungai Lui, Kampung Batu 17, Kampung Dusun Nanding, Kampung Batu 13 and Kampung Lubuk Kelubi.
"The water level is still rising… a flood relief centre was opened at Taman Sri Nanding community hall but we are not sure the number of the victims there.
"We are still monitoring the situation and the rescue mission is till ongoing involving 39 personnel as well as nine fire and rescue tenders from Ampang, Kajang, and Serdang," he said.
He said several roads leading to Hulu Langat industrial zone were also closed due to the floods.
