KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway Group has confirmed that a landslide occurred at The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat at 1am today, affecting one of its villas.
It also affirmed that two guests were killed in the incident.
"We are saddened to confirm that the bodies of two guests were found near the jacuzzi area within the villa by the Bomba rescue team at approximately 10am.
"No other guests and staff are affected and all have been moved to a safe area," it said in a statement today.
The Group also said it is working with the authorities to reach out to the victims' families, assuring that it will provide necessary assistance and support to them.
"We wish to inform that the resort meets all the safety requirements and protocols by the authorities concerned, and operates to international standards.
"The health and safety of our guests and all staff have always been our top priority," it said.
However, the Group declined to make further comments on the incident as police investigations are underway.
