KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 886,297 accounts affected by the unscheduled water supply disruption earlier this morning are expected to have their taps running again from 3pm onwards today, said Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor).
In an update at 10.30am, Air Selangor corporate communications head Elina Baseri said water supply will be restored in stages, and a complete recovery is expected by midnight today.
Operations at the Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Phase 1, 2 and 3 as well as the Rantau Panjang WTP had to be halted for five hours last night following the detection of raw water pollution at Sungai Selangor this morning.
Elina said 861 areas in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang/Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Langat are experiencing water cuts due to the incident.
"Air Selangor will provide water supply by deploying tankers to the affected areas and the priority will be for critical premises such as hospitals and dialysis centres.
"We understand the need of consumers for clean water supply, especially due to the rise in Covid-19 cases and the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
"All efforts will be taken to minimise the impact of the disruption," she said in a statement.
