KUALA LUMPUR: Air Selangor has confirmed that all four water treatment plants, which were temporarily halted after an odour pollution incident was detected, have resumed operations today.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said the Rantau Panjang, Sungai Selangor Phase 1 (SSP1), Sungai Selangor Phase 2 (SSP2), and Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) plants have all recommenced operations.

Air Selangor added that safe treated water is being distributed to consumers in stages.

"As of 6 am today, water supply recovery in the affected areas has reached 9.9 per cent.

"It is expected to reach approximately 40 per cent by 8am tomorrow and 90 per cent later on the same day.

"Full recovery is anticipated by 8 am on 26 July," Air Selangor said in a statement today. It added that the duration of the water supply disruption and recovery will vary depending on the location of consumers' premises and the water pressure within the distribution system.

"Air Selangor has mobilised water tankers to critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres, and funeral service centres.

"Alternative water supply assistance is also being provided at 17 local service centres."

The water disruption was caused by an odour pollution incident at Sungai Kundang and Sungai Sembah.

It caused water disruption in more than 1,000 areas in seven Air Selangor regions: Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, and Kuala Selangor.
