Ailing actor, lyricist Bob Lokman receives aid from Kelantan govt

KOTA BARU: Actor and lyricist Mohd Hakim "Bob" Lokman, who underwent a heart procedure last week, received aid from the state government to ease his financial burden, yesterday.

Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob handed over the financial aid in a simple ceremony held at Bob's home in Kubang Kerian, here.

Ahmad said the state government hopes that the donation would aid Bob and his family, who are now facing financial problems.

"I hope that the money will help Bob and his family in this hour of need," said Ahmad.

Bob, 55, thanked the state government for the donation.

"I am deeply touched over the assistance by the state government, and from all donors, especially those who helped in paying for my operation recently.

"For that, I would like to thank everyone and only Allah can reward their kindness," he said.

Bob underwent a heart procedure last week to install an Implantable Automatic Cardioverter Defibrillator (IACD), a device placed under the skin that keeps track of a person's heart rate.

The lyricist behind Search's iconic "Isabella" and Wings' "Taman Rashidah Utama" and his wife Relawati Daud, 42, now operate a `Laksa Kedah' outlet.

The couple has eight children.

Their eldest, Mohamad Adam, died from a brain tumour in 2018.
