Over 1,000 visit Sunway Lagoon, Lost World of Tambun on first day of reopening

KUALA LUMPUR: Both theme parks under the Sunway group, Sunway Lagoon and Sunway Lost World of Tambun, received a huge response from patrons on the first day of both reopening.

Sunway Theme Parks executive director Calvin Ho said each park received more than 1,000 visitors today.

"Both parks had been closed for more than two months due to pre-emptive measures and compliance with the government's anti-pandemic measures.

"Patrons are really excited to come to our theme parks as they have been waiting for a long time for the government to lift the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

"Most of our guests today were families with small kids," he said when contacted."

Ho added there was also a high number of online ticket purchase.

Meanwhile, he said Sunway Theme Parks introduced, "State of Play", with heightened standard operating procedures (SOP) well above the standards implemented by the Health Ministry in its 52.41 hectares theme parks, combined.

"During the CMCO, our team has been re-imagining the idea of PLAY and recreating trust for our guests in a vast outdoor environment.

"As we continue to navigate the terrains of this global pandemic, our theme parks will relentlessly provide the best experience possible to our guests. This reopening of both our parks will also power up our nation's economic recovery with domestic travel."

He added that both parks had followed health and safety measures, reopening with a 50 per cent capacity.
