KOTA BARU: Flooding in Kelantan continues to improve, with only 1,071 victims still at the state's flood relief centres, today.
According to the state Welfare Department's website, the evacuees, from 314 families, are sheltering at 12 flood relief centres in two districts.
A total of 836 victims remain at relief centres in Pasir Mas, while another 235 are in Kuala Krai.
The figure was recorded at noon today.
The portal also stated that only Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang is above its danger level, as of noon today.
The river was measured at 9.56 metres, which is 0.56m above its danger mark of 9m.
Meanwhile, Sungai Kelantan, in Kuala Krai and Tanah Merah, was measured above its warning mark, while other rivers have receded to normal levels.
State Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Committee chairman, Wan Roslan Wan Hamat, said the state government, with the help of several NGOs, has been helping flood victims in the state.
"The state government would like to thank the NGOs from Kelantan and outside the state which assisted flood victims in these difficult times," he added.
He said nearly 1,000 NGOs came to Kelantan since last week to hand over donations – mostly food items and other necessities.
