PETALING JAYA: A firm believer in the saying "the more you give, the more comes back to you", Burger Boy owner Mohd Kosim Ismail is offering free burgers daily during the Movement Control Order (MCO).
"The unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic has struck people differently.
"Some lost their jobs and are unemployed, while some were not affected at all. Hence, this is the least that I can do to help those who are affected.
"Please do not be shy. Just come to Burger Boy, and eat your fill," he said at his food truck in Jalan PJU 5/3 on Saturday.
Thirty-year-old Kosim, who hails from Kelantan, said those in need could approach him or his assistant for the free burgers from 2pm to 8pm.
The burger is not limited to basic beef or chicken.
"They can order whatever they want from the menu," he said.
Kosim has more than 90 burger varieties consisting of egg, chicken, beef, lamb, rabbit, prawn and fish with prices ranging between RM3 and RM30.50 each.
He said since the implementation of the MCO on Jan 13, between 50 and 100 free burgers had been distributed daily.
"On Friday, after my post went viral on Facebook, I dished out about 150 free burgers," he said, adding that his "special customers" were from all races.
Kosim, who has been selling burgers for 14 years, said apart from his portion of free burgers, people who were better off also chipped in.
"They come to my food truck and 'pay-it-forward' for those who cannot afford and are hungry."
Kosim said generous individuals would also call him to prepare burgers to be donated to places of their choice.
"They will bank in the money and ask us to deliver the burgers."
Kosim said during the MCO last year, he provided free burgers to frontliners in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
"My dad told me that the more we give, the more we will get in return. The returns are not necessarily in terms of money but it could also be good health, sufficient sustenance and happiness, among others," said Kosim, who earns between RM1,500 and RM2,000 daily.
