KUALA LUMPUR: Popular American YouTuber Darren Watkins Jr, better known as IShowSpeed, made an unexpected stop at a humble burger stall in Kuala Lumpur during his recent trip to Malaysia.
In a TikTok video that has garnered over one million views since it was posted yesterday, the burger vendor revealed that Watkins paid him RM362 for just one special beef Ramly burger.
Many speculated that the YouTuber might have splurged in US dollars or Malaysian Ringgit.
However, Watkins handed the vendor seven banknotes of 50,000 KHR (Cambodian Riel).
After a quick calculation, it turns out the vendor received a total of 350,000 KHR – worth about RM362.
"It's not in US dollar, but it's still more than what I usually get for a single burger," the vendor said, describing Watkins' presence as a shocking encounter.
"But just to let everyone know, I still sell my burgers in Malaysian Ringgit," he laughed, playfully addressing Malaysians who might now be wondering if they need foreign currency for a taste of his burgers.
Later in the video, the interviewer even presented the burger seller with a banner featuring IShowSpeed at his stall.
Meanwhile, netizens were also humoured by the memorable event for the burger vendor while wishing success for his business.
"Speed is the only one who doesn't exchange money when travelling anywhere; only he can pull that off. haha," says user @bangrull96_
"Don't use that money. Frame it as a memento from Speed," says user @nukilanbiruni.
"The price was RM362 for one of Speed's burgers. Soon, its value will increase by tens of thousands because you've gone viral, and people will come.
"Keep that money in a frame as a memory of the start of your business blowing up," user @zul_zanial commented.
