These included failure to wear face masks in public areas (157); failure to provide materials to record patrons' details upon entry to premises (99); interstate or inter-district travel without permission (97); opening premises beyond permitted hours (52); leaving the house without valid reasons (35) and others (74).

"From the total figure, 709 were issued with compounds, 19 remanded and three were bailed," he said during his press conference today.

Ismail Sabri said the task force monitoring SOP compliance conducted 66,526 inspections nationwide.

On Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said 20 illegal immigrants and a skipper were arrested, while 14 vehicles were seized.

On arrivals into the country, from July 24 up to yesterday, 116,252 individuals arrived from abroad and were placed at 75 hotels and 14 public training institutes as well as private learning institutes nationwide for mandatory quarantine.

On Covid-19 screening for foreign workers, Ismail Sabri said the Human Resources Ministry informed that 78 of the 6,893 foreign workers who underwent Covid-19 screening yesterday tested positive for the virus.

He said this brought the cumulative number of foreign workers screened for the virus from Dec 1 to 288,879, involving 12,205 employers.

Of the total, 5,499 of the foreign workers tested positive for the virus while the results for 283,380 came back negative.

The screening was in line with the latest directive from the government, which makes it compulsory for foreign workers to undergo Covid-19 screening, especially those in Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur and Labuan.

The cost of the screening is being borne by their respective employers.

In the same statement, Ismail Sabri said the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) enforcement staff also conducted 1,402 operations on SOP compliance yesterday.
