BESUT: Besides the 500 chickens and 1,100 ikan tongkol (tuna) sent to five villages in Pasir Akar under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO), non-governmental organisations and local leaders also handed over 600 bottles of "budu" (fermented anchovies).
The EMCO, which started on Feb 14 and will end on Feb 27, has affected some 2,152 residents of Kampung Darau, Kampung Awek, Kampung Gong Tebu, Kampung Lepan Kejor and Kampung Padang Baloh.
Besut district officer, Ahmad Farhan Abdul Wahab, said the contribution of wet and dry food cost RM60,000.
"Residents are also given rice, eggs and various other things. They will be delivered today with the help of the Social Welfare Department (JKM)," he told reporters when met at Sekolah Kebangsaan Alor Keladi in Hulu Besut.
Bernama surveyed the area and saw villagers following the rules, and was told that there were no reports of people trying to sneak out. - BERNAMA
