KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has recorded a new cluster dubbed Dambai Inanam, with Covid-19 infection spreading among the community in three districts.
Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the cluster had recorded 19 cumulative cases.
"The index case is an individual believed to have been infected with the coronavirus while attending an engagement ceremoby at Kampung Dambai in Kionsom, Inanam, here.
"The index case was found positive after undergoing symptomatic screening at a private hospital on April 16," he said.
Masidi said the state health department conducted contact tracing among the guests.
Of the 119 samples taken, 18 other individuals were tested positive for Covid-19.
Apart from Kota Kinabalu, the cluster also registered three cases in Putatan and five cases in Kuala Penyu.
"This cluster gets worse when one of those infected in Kuala Penyu is a teacher, who has spread the virus to two students," said Masidi.
Today Sabah has 132 new infections, while two deaths were recorded in Tawau and Sandakan each.
