KUALA LUMPUR: All schools in Selangor will be closed tomorrow and will remain so until the Hari Raya Aidilfitri school holidays end.
The Education Ministry announced the decision after the Selangor Health Department Special Committee (JKKNS) made a recommendation yesterday to keep schools closed from May 6 to May 12 to restrict movement in the community.
Selangor Education director Izmi Ismail, through a directive to all district education officers, informed teachers to conduct home-based teaching and learning method (PdPR) for the remaining two schooling days.
Students from boarding schools, he said, can return home for the Hari Raya holidays as scheduled by the school administrators.
Izmi advised school administrators not to revise the existing schedule to avoid creating confusion among students and parents.
On April 26, Education Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin announced that all primary and secondary schools nationwide would return to PdPR when the education session resumes after the school holidays in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri this month. This would go on for two weeks till the school term break.
Yesterday, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the reinstatement of the Movement Control Order (MCO) in six districts in Selangor – Hulu Langat, Petaling, Gombak, Klang, Kuala Langat and Sepang – tomorrow till May 17.
