TNB ready to resume electricity supply to Johor water treatment plant

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga National Bhd (TNB) is ready to resume electricity supply to the Semangar water treatment plant in Johor once Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd completes its repair works.

In a statement today, TNB said checks found that a fire, which occurred at the water treatment plant yesterday had only involved the transformer and had nothing to do with the electricity supply to the the plant.

"TNB's checks revealed the fire only involved the transformer owned by Ranhill SAJ at the water treatment plant; while installation and TNB's electrical supply is in good condition.

"TNB is ready to cooperate with Ranhill SAJ, which is in the midst of conducting repair works," it said when responding to a story by the New Straits Times on the incident.

It was reported that a fire at the Semangar water treatment plant in Jalan Kulai-Kota Tinggi yesterday caused water disruption in two districts in Johor.

Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd said the two affected districts, Johor Baru and Kulai, involved over 100 areas comprising residential and industrial areas, as well as schools and government offices.

Ranhill SAJ also said the relevant parties were working hard to repair the damage to ensure that water supply to the affected areas could be restored in stages.
