KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for a full medical check-up and further observation.
IJN in a statement this evening said the 96-year-old who had served as the fourth and seventh prime minister arrived at the hospital at 7pm today.
"(He) is expected to be in IJN for the next few days," the statement read.
The Langkawi member of parliament, who turned 96 in July, had undergone two heart bypass operations, in 1989 and 2007. He was last hospitalised in February 2018.
