JOHOR BARU: Former Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Osman Sapian, was laid to rest at the Al Raudah Muslim Cemetery in Mount Austin here after the Zuhur prayer today.
Osman's remains arrived at his family residence in Jalan Sentosa, Larkin here at 2.23pm where family members paid their last respects.
Also present to pay their last respects were Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad, Johor Pakatan Harapan chairman Jimmy Puah Wee Tse, Parti Amanah Negara Johor deputy chairman Dzulkefly Ahmad and Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
The remains were then taken to the Al Raudah Mosque in Larkin for prayers before being laid to rest.
Osman, 70, died at his son's house in Damansara, Selangor at about 11.45pm last night.
On Oc 13, it was reported that Osman was taken to the KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital here after suffering from a stroke.
He was then transferred to the Universiti Putra Malaysia Teaching Hospital in Selangor for further treatment.
On Nov 4, Osman's condition was reported to be stable but he was still unconscious and under observation.
Osman, the Kempas assemblyman, was appointed as Johor's 16th Menteri Besar in May 2018 after Pakatan Harapan won a majority in the Johor State Assembly in the 14th General Election.
He served for 11 months before relinquishing the post in April 2019.
