KUALA LUMPUR: The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) assisted more than 1,000 flood victims in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, and from east coast states recently.
The assistance, which is part of PTPTN's corporate social responsibility programme called Prihatin was carried out by its Prihatin Squad Flood Relief Mission together with Dana Kita, a non-governmental organisation.
In a statement today, PTPTN said each family received one flood relief kit, distributed following Covid-19 standard operating procedures.
"Our squads have also been helping flood victims clean up their houses, especially those who were severely affected by the floods," said the statement today.
The squads have distributed flood relief kits containing necessities and food to flood victims sheltering at two temporary evacuation centres (PPS) in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor on December 20, 2021.
The flood relief kits were distributed by PTPTN chairman Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan, accompanied by PTPTN chief executive officer Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid and PTPTN senior general manager Wan Zawiah Wan Abu Bakar, at PPS Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Saraswathy, Jalan Klang Lama.
Meanwhile a PTPTN management board member, Rohani Datuk Mohd Shahir also distributed donations at PPS Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Serai, Hulu Langat, accompanied by PTPTN chief operating officer Mastura Mohd Khalid.
PTPTN Prihatin squad and Dana Kita volunteers will help the flood victims in other locations and states including Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan, next.
"We have always been concerned and supportive of the governments' effort to assist in distributing aid and donations to the affected flood victims.
"We hope these contributions and assistance can help lessen the victims' burdens and emotional distress.
"We are always optimistic in helping Malaysians in need, through our series of corporate social responsibility programmes, which coincides with the Keluarga Malaysia concept," said the statement.
