SETIU: Terengganu is bracing for a second wave of floods with water levels in major rivers in Besut, Dungun and Hulu Terengganu having breached their respective danger levels.
Sungai Besut at Kampung Keruak is now 0.2 metres above its danger level of 35 metres while Sungai Terengganu at Kuala Ping has risen 0.10 metres above its danger level of 19.70 metres.
Meanwhile, Sungai Dungun at Kampung Pasir Raja now measures at 1.13 metres above its danger level of 37.50 metres.
As at 10pm, 388 people from 114 families have been evacuated to two relief centres at Kampung Pasir Raja and Kampung Shukor civic centres, both in Dungun.
The state Disaster Management Committee secretariat said agencies involved in rescue operations are on high alert as Sungai Nerus at Kampung Langkap in Setiu and Sungai Besut at Kampung La in Besut have breached their respective warning levels.
The continuous heavy rain in the interior may cause these rivers to burst its banks and inundate low lying areas.
