Kelantan floods claim second victim [NSTTV]

KOTA BARU: The floods in Kelantan claimed its second victim today after a 13-year-old student drowned in Kampung Talang near Kadok here.

The victim was identified as Mohamad Fazli Tamri, of Kampung Patek.

Deputy Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the victim was riding his bicycle when the incident happened at about 6.20pm.

"While passing an irrigation canal, the victim suddenly fell from his bicycle and went into the canal.

"His friend, who was with him on another bicycle, tried to rescue him but failed. He then called for help. A search and rescue operation was mounted and the body was discovered later," he said.

He added the body of the SMK Kubang Kiat student, was found about an hour later about 200m from the area where he went missing.

Meanwhile, Muhamad Zaki said the body of a 70-year-old man who went missing on Feb 25 in Kampung Gris near Dabong, Kuala Krai since Friday, was found today.

He added that the body of Mohamad Ishak, who was the first victim in the Kelantan floods, was found stuck among tree branches inside the Galas river at about 7.15pm.
