MoH welcomes clinical studies on use of CBD for medical purposes

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry has not received any full submission for clinical trials on the use of marijuana for medical purposes.

This, minister Khairy Jamaluddin, said, despite many expressions of interest, talk and social media advocacy on the matter.

"Much discussion of late on the medicinal use of marijuana and @KKMPutrajaya (the Health Ministry) has been consistent in practising evidence-based policies.

"That's why we have welcomed clinical studies on the use of CBD (cannabidiol) for medicinal purposes.

"This can be coordinated by @ICR_NIH (Institute of Clinical Research and National Institute of Health) and @ClinicalRsrchMY (Clinical Research Malaysia)."

Khairy said the ministry is welcoming any industry or academia-initiated research for the medicinal use of CBD.

"We are ready to collaborate."
