Pandalela, Nur Dhabitah prove that women can make significant contribution to sports in the country

KUALA LUMPUR: The Foundation of Women Community in Sports (Fowcus) said the success achieved by the Pandalela-Nur Dhabitah partnership proved that women can make a significant contribution to the development of sports in the country.

Congratulating Datuk Pandalela Rinong and Nur Dhabitah Sabri who won bronze medals in the 10m platform synchro event at the FINA 2022 World Aquatics Championships recently, Fowcus president Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin said their success will inspire others and also raise the status of women in sports in this country.

"We admire Pandalela who won two bronze medals in this edition after previously winning it in the 10m individual platform event.

"Pandalela's success did not come easy, but through sacrifices and relentless effort. She started representing the country at the Olympics at the age of 15 and thanks to her hard work, Pandelela created history when she became an Olympic medallist," she said today.

The country's diving icon has grabbed dozens of medals since her first appearance on the international sports stage in 2007 when she was just 14. Her outstanding performances were undeniable when she won two medals from the Olympics and seven from world championships, not including two victories in Hungary.

"Good luck to Pandalela, Nur Dhabitah and another national female diving athlete, Ng Yan Yee, as well as all our female athletes who are fighting for our beloved country. We are sure you will continue to make us proud," added Zuraida.
