KUALA LUMPUR: Diver Nur Dhabitah Sabri capped her 2024 season by winning three gold medals at the Malaysian Open at the National Aquatic Centre.
Cheered on by her husband, comedian Jiggy Masin, and her parents, the 25-year-old diver showcased her talent.
Dhabitah, along with Pandelela Rinong, Gabriel Gilbert Daimdan, Enrique Maccartney Harold and Ker Ying Ong, shone in the mixed team, women's 3m synchronised, and 3m mixed synchronised events.
"I'm proud of Gabriel for his performance in the 3m mixed synchronised event. It has been a while since he competed.
"Overall, I'm happy that everything went according to plan," said Dhabitah.
In the 3m mixed synchronised event, Dhabitah-Gabriel won gold with a score of 242.10 points across five dives. Indonesia's Aldinsyah Putra Rafi-Gladies Lariesa Garina took silver (230.40) while Singapore's Max Lee-Alycia Lim rounded out the podium with bronze (202.08).
The Olympian also praised her partner Ker Ying (women's 3m synchronised) who competed despite an injury. The duo won the gold (218.82) while Hong Kong's Ka Sin Leung-Ziyi Wang took silver (206.40).
"We focused on staying safe instead of pushing our limits, especially with Ker Ying's injury," said Dhabitah.
The Malaysia Open marked the first time Dhabitah dived with new partners, and she looks forward to more competitions with them.
Malaysia won seven golds out of 10 and three silvers, competing against divers from Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Taiwan, the Philippines, Singapore and Hong Kong in the three-day competition.
