Slow traffic, congestion on major highways

KUALA LUMPUR: Heavy traffic was reported along major highways, causing expected delays in travel time this morning.

A check by the New Straits Times on social media also revealed that a few accidents occurred on major highways, reducing traffic to a crawl.

According to PLUS Malaysia Bhd, through its Twitter account (plustrafik), four accidents were reported as early as 6.57am.

An accident was reported at Km20.1 of the North Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) from Kota Damansara to Bukit Lanjan, blocking the right lane and slowing traffic at 7.23am.

It was also reported that an accident occurred at Km24.9 of the NKVE from Bukit Lanjan to Jalan Duta at 8.23am with no lanes blocked and traffic ensued as of 10am.

At the same time, accidents were reported on the NKVE at Km 17.3 from Damansara to Kota Damansara and Km19.8 heading north from Kota Damansara to Bukit Lanjan.

Slow traffic flow was reported at several expressways, including the NKVE towards the north from Setia Alam to Shah Alam; Damansara toll to Kayu Ara; the southern lane from Sungai Buloh Hospital to Bukit Lanjan; and the North-South Expressway Central Link (Elite) expressway from Putra Heights to USJ towards the north.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Highway Authority, through its Twitter account (@LLMinfotrafik) reported a trailer-lorry collision at the Jabor-Kuantan junction on the East Coast Expressway (LPT1), causing the left lane to be blocked and slowed down traffic.
