Pre-departure, on-arrival Covid-19 testing for travellers no longer required

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian and non-Malaysian travellers are no longer required to undergo any pre-departure or on-arrival Covid-19 tests when entering the country since Aug 1.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also confirmed that travellers will no longer be required to undergo quarantine upon arrival.

He said this while announcing that both Malaysian citizens and non-citizen travellers were no longer required to submit details and complete the Traveller's Pass feature on the MySejahtera application, regardless of their vaccination status.

"However, vaccination requirements are still subject to the airline's regulations," he said in a statement today.

Dr Noor Hisham highlighted that symptom monitoring activities among travellers at all international entry points will continue and be strengthened.

"Upon arrival, if a traveller is detected with a fever through the thermal scanners or found to be unwell through self-referral by the traveller, they will be referred for re-examination by medical authorities.

"If they are suspected of having infectious diseases such as Covid-19, monkeypox, or MERS-CoV after health assessment, they will be referred to the nearest health facility for further examination and treatment."

Dr Noor Hisham reminded travellers arriving from abroad to monitor their health status, comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) and go to the nearest health facility for examination if they were unwell.
