KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 397 areas in Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat are expected to experience water supply disruption beginning 10am following temporary work stoppage at the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (LRA Langat 2) at 4.30am today.
Air Selangor Sdn Bhd in a statement today said the supply disruption was due to an incident of chemical pollution in Sungai Semantan, Pahang, as a result of an accident on the Karak-Bentong Highway yesterday.
According to the statement, out of the 397 affected areas,172 areas are in Kuala Lumpur, 222 in Hulu Langat and three in Petaling.
"The LRA Langat 2 is expected to resume operations at 3.30pm to enable the raw water treatment process to begin.
"Treated water supply will begin to be channelled to users in stages when the water distribution system is stabilised. Alternative assistance through tankers will be deployed to users with priority given to critical premises," said the statement
Air Selangor is taking every effort to minimise the impact of the disruption to affected users and will update developments from time to time.
In another development, Air Selangor informed that all 188 areas in Hulu Selangor on that were affected due to upgrading improvement works and maintenance of assets at the Sungai Rasa LRA on Tuesday had fully received water supply as at 3am today.
"Air Selangor would like to thank users for their patience and cooperation throughout the period of the scheduled disruption," the statement said.
