KOTA TINGGI: A mother and her daughter died in an accident involving two cars near Felcra Dusun Panti here, this morning.
The accident involved a Proton Wira and a Proton Saga.
The dead were identified as Titah Abd Ghani, 58 and her daughter, Samsiah Abdullah, 21.
Samsiah's husband, Mohd Fahmi Aizat Mokhtar, 24, who was driving the Proton Wira they were travelling in, was injured in the accident.
Also injured in the accident were three people in the Proton Saga — Junaidah Muhmad, 48, Liqwan Shah Nasution Lindung Saputra, 26, and Lizwan Sharel Nasution Abdullah, 18.
Kota Tinggi Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) operations commander, Ibrahim Wahid, said the Johor Operations Centre received an emergency call about the accident at 10.51am.
He said a fire engine and 10 rescue personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene.
"There were four victims who got out of the vehicle before the fire department arrived while two women were trapped in the Proton Wira," he said.
He said the firemen at the scene removed the trapped victims who were confirmed dead by Health Ministry personnel at the scene.
Ibrahim said the injured victims were sent to Kota Tinggi Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the police. Ends
