KUALA LUMPUR: The decision on whether the people can remove their face masks in enclosed spaces will be announced by Wednesday.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said he had chaired an executive public health committee meeting, which discussed the matter.
"Last week, I received a recommendation from experts on the subject. I am also gathering feedback from the public.
"I will announce a decision on it by Wednesday," he said today after closing the the Organ Donation Awareness Week ceremony at PPR Seri Alam 2 here.
On Friday, Malaysian Medical Association president Dr Koh Kar Chai had urged the government to review its policy on the mandatory wearing of face masks in enclosed spaces as the number of Covid-19 cases had reached a "plateau of sorts" and the hospitalisation rate due to the virus was at a manageable level.
