KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will launch its version of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme which will not follow the new requirements under the federal government.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the Sabah MM2H (SMM2H) programme had been approved by the state cabinet.
"Sabah's programme will not follow the new requirements set out by the federal MM2H.
"With our own SMM2H, we hope to see high-value foreigners and talents moving to Sabah, and creating economic spin-offs," he said at the 42nd anniversary of Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) Night 2022 here, yesterday.
His speech was read by state Local Government and Housing Minister and Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
Present were Shareda president Datuk Chua Soon Ping and vice-president Wesley Chai Meng Kong.
Hajiji said so far Sabah had remained consistent in attracting foreign investments due to the opportunities in multiple sectors across the state.
"The Malaysian Investment Development Authority has listed Sabah as having secured RM9.9 billion worth of foreign investments from January to September 2022, effectively ranking Sabah as the third highest in the country.
"We strive to be investor-friendly and be rest assured that the state government will ease all hurdles to facilitate investments," he said.
