Police deny issuing warning on sale of organs

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have denied issuing a warning, which went viral on social media, to the public regarding the sale of organs.

Federal police corporate communications head Assistant Commissioner A. Skandaguru, in a statement, said the viral message, titled "Warning to all parents and guardians on the prices of organs in Malaysia" (Amaran Kepada Semua Ibu Bapa/Penjaga Harga Organ di Malaysia) also listed the prices of human organs such as the heart, kidneys, eyes, lungs and liver.

"The message claimed that Bukit Aman issued a warning to parents to look out for two white vehicles believed to be used in kidnapping activities and the sale of organs, especially involving children below 15."

"The police have issued no such warning."

He added that the police had yet to receive any report, especially on the vehicles, as stated in the viral message.

"The public is reminded not to believe and be easily influenced by such messages or share them on social media without first verifying them."
