KUALA LUMPUR: During a ceramah and a feast with the people in Pokok Sena, Kedah, Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang put forth a poignant reminder that democracy was an opportunity for the people to ascertain and, if need be, to punish the government if they were to suffer.
"In the Al-Isra verse, Allah S.W.T said that come Judgment Day, each and every human being will rise together with their leaders that they followed while on earth. This shows that each and every practice of ours, what we did, including that of choosing government leaders will be taken into account and recorded for our sins and good deeds.
"The democracy that is practiced is an opportunity for the rakyat to decide for themselves and to punish if necessary the government for enduring, suffering any weaknesses, mistakes and deviation.
"The rakyat have a responsibility to prevent and avoid disobedience and betrayal by going out to vote and preventing leaders who are cruel from ruling over Muslims," stressed Hadi via a Facebook post uploaded earlier today.
He continued by noting that history has proven how detrimental, tough and difficult it was for the rakyat under the rule and power of cruel leaders.
"Aid and assistance, the basic rights of the rakyat were curtailed, so they must rise to the occasion and reject such cruel, unworthy leaders when it comes to voting in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).
"Therefore we must put forth the unification and closing of ranks among Muslims, Malays and also invite non-Muslims who are not extreme into the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
"We must come together if we are to build in terms of strength to carry out the necessary changes needed for Malaysia," he reiterated.
