SHAH ALAM: Another flood relief centre has been opened at SRA Pekan Baru, Klang, to house 200 flood victims from the surrounding area.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Services Department head of operations Zulfikar Jaafar said that the flood situation in and around Meru has yet to change with the rain because the water level will continue to rise before it comes to a static level.
"The second flood relief centre which is SRA Meru has been opened and it will house as many as 200 flood victims from the surrounding area. The number of flood victims being housed at the SK Sungai Binjai flood relief centre that was opened yesterday has now gone up to 628 people," said Zulfikar when contacted today.
At the same time, based on data from the Welfare Department's Disaster Information Data, as of 8.20pm today, there were as many as 807 flood victims from 190 families housed at three flood relief centres.
The SK Sungai Binjai flood relief centre has the highest number of flood victims followed by SK Kampung Johan Setia (147 people), the Al-Falah Mosque in Kampung Budiman (32), while the number of flood victims being housed at the SRA Pekan Meru flood relief centre is still being updated as of press time.
