116 displaced by Johor flash floods, two relief centres opened

KLUANG: A total of 116 people were evacuated to two flood relief centres after heavy rainfall led to parts of Simpang Renggam being flooded early this morning.

The State Disaster Management Committee secretariat said the residents were evacuated after two hours of continuous rain caused floodwaters to rise, impacting homes in Taman Suria, Taman Rekamas, and Kampung Seri Tengah.

There are 68 victims from 20 families at SK Dato' Onn Jaafar, and 40 (16 families) at SK Seri Kampung Renggam.

Both schools have been converted to temporary shelters.
