KOTA BARU: Eight temporary relief centres (PPS) have been opened in Tanah Merah district, housing 162 flood victims from 53 families as of 6.16pm today.
Based on the Social Welfare Department disaster info portal, a total of 34 flood victims from 12 families are seeking shelter at the PPS Sekolah Kebangsaan Batang Merbau.
Another 28 flood victims from eight families are seeking shelter at PPS Gual Jedok, while 25 people from seven families are at the PPS SK Bendang Nyior. A total of 20 people from 10 families are placed at PPS SK Lalang Pepuyu; 17 people from five families at PPS Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tan Sri Mohamed Yaacob; 13 people from six families at PPS SK Lawang; 13 people from three families at PPS SK Kelewek; and another 12 people from two families at the Padang Kijang Community Hall.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department, in a statement today, said heavy rain will persist across Terengganu, Pahang, and Kelantan until tomorrow.
Similar weather conditions are also expected in Kuantan, Pahang, as well as Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Pasir Puteh, and Kuala Krai in Kelantan.
The continuous rain advisory has also been issued for parts of Kelantan, including Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Bachok, and Gua Musang, until tomorrow.
Other areas covered by the advisory are Jerantut, Maran, Pekan, and Rompin in Pahang, as well as Mersing in Johor. In Sabah, the same advisory applies to the Interior (Tambunan), West Coast, Tawau (Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran, and Sandakan), and Kudat regions.
